Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk
- Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375F 190C
In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder
Set aside
In a larger bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until smooth
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until fully incorporated
If the dough seems too dry, add buttermilk one tablespoon at a time until it reaches a smooth consistency
Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them on ungreased baking sheets
Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden
Be careful not to overbake
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
Once the cookies are completely cooled, you can decorate them with sprinkles or colored sugar as desired
