Britain's Baroness Emma Nicholson visited the AMAR International Charitable Foundation clinic in Baharka on Tuesday 4th August, which is providing vital healthcare services for those who have been displaced by the recent wave of violence in Iraq, as well as refugees from Syria.
The staff here are doing amazing jobs. The majority of them are IDPs themselves, and most are from Mosul. Sisters Dr Eman and Dr Zainab, the clinic’s doctors, were in Jordan when Daesh suddenly expanded across Iraq last year.
After returning home to help their family, they fled their home in Mosul with their parents for safety elsewhere. Many of their relatives, however, are still living under Daesh rule. Living away from family has ‘broken my heart’ said Dr Eman.
All of AMAR's projects are funded through donations by the public and as a charity, they welcome all donations and fundraising initiatives.
