I was shocked to read the latest World Health Organisation report, that British children are more likely to die before their fifth birthday, than in any other Western European country.

According to Political journalist John Higginson, “while infant mortality rates have been falling across most of the Western world, the opposite is the case in Britain.”

“Only Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Latvia, Bulgaria and Romania have higher infant mortality rates than Britain”.

Figures from the WHO, illustrate how the rate in Britain has risen from 5.3 deaths, per 1,000 births before the age of five in 2010, to 5.4 per 1,000 in 2013.

This is tragically placing children in Britain, at a higher risk of infant death, than those born in either the Czech Republic or Slovenia.
